Jewish Communities of Kerala UPSC
Recently the last woman of Kerala’s Paradesi Jewish community, Queenie Hallegua died in Kochi at the age of 89. India’s Jewish population is expected to comprise 4,000-5,000 members from 20,000-50,000 in the mid-1940s. They belong to the Marathi-speaking Bene Israel network, settled at the Konkan coast for hundreds of years.
